Liaison to Fraternity and Sorority Life
The Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) Sexual Violence Prevention Liaison is a unique student position available for any rising 4th/5th year students in the FSL community who have held a leadership position in their chapter or their council. The Liaison works with both OPEN and the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) towards reducing harm and educating members of the Greek Life community about sexual violence prevention. Some of the responsibilities of the liaison include: overseeing chapter representatives working on the Sexual Violence Prevention Committee, developing health education materials and resources relevant to FSL leaders (and other student leaders), and facilitating FSL bystander presentations. The individual(s) selected for this position will receive comprehensive training on these topics as well as continual education and support throughout their time in this role. Sexual Violence Prevention Educator
Sexual Violence Prevention Educators (SVPEs) work as part of the Up2Us program, offering a sexual violence prevention presentation developed by OPEN to first-year seminar classes, as well as to student groups or other classes as needed. The content of this pre-made presentation primarily focuses on bystander intervention techniques, but also includes information on topics such as Northeastern sexual violence resources, the impact of alcohol on communication and consent, and responding to disclosures of sexual violence. Clinical Social Work Internships
OPEN has provided clinical supervision and training to social work interns for over ten years. Social work interns have the opportunity to learn Motivational Interviewing skills, provide services related to substance use, and/or to be trained to provide services within OPEN’s Sexual Violence Resource Center.
OPEN typically accepts two second year interns. Interviews occur in the early spring for the following academic year. If interested, please work with your university field placement office and/or email your resume directly to open@northeastern.edu by the end of January.
